IMPERIAL PROJECT / FILE SYSTEM
Quick Optimized Stable File System
A lightweight, simple and experimental file system designed for Imperial NextOS. Built around simplicity, useful features and the exploration of performance optimizations.
01 / OVERVIEW
QOSFS explores an alternative to relying exclusively on existing third-party solutions.
Develop and maintain our own technology, giving Imperial greater control over its software and resources.
Avoid unnecessary complexity. Focus on a small footprint and useful everyday file operations.
Explore performance improvements while treating stability and speed as goals to validate, not guarantees.
02 / TECHNICAL OVERVIEW
QOSFS is being developed as a file system for physical disks, with Imperial NextOS as its intended environment.
03 / COMPATIBILITY
QOSFS is intended to complement the existing storage solution used by NextOS, rather than immediately replace it.
FatFs remains the recommended option for reliable file operations while QOSFS is experimental.
An internally developed file system exploring lightweight storage and future NextOS integration.
QOSFS is an active prototype. Stability and data integrity are not guaranteed. Do not use it to store important data. Only test it where potential data loss is acceptable.
